MORNINGTIME 2141

And he, (Jesus), answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, IS IT I? He said unto him, Thou hast said. Matthew 26:23, 25. I recently heard a man call out sin in a church. It was a True and Righteous Word, it was generic in the sense there are no names added, but it applied to many in the church. This brings the question in any church, if a Pastor, a Watchman, a deacon, a sheep, if ANYONE calls out a sin of some sort, DOES ANYONE ASK, "IS IT I", in church anymore? Do the words of the Pastor shake us to the very bone? Or are we so laid back we can hear the pastor talk about some sin, over there, take another sip of our coffee and comment on how good the service was with the full assurance and belief that he was talking about some other, somewhere else??? IS THERE ANY CONVICTION IN THE CHURCH ANYMORE? DOES ANYONE EVEN CARE ABOUT THIS THING CALLED SIN? Does sin even apply in church anymore, or are we in such good shape that we don't need to be concerned about it? It's always the other guy stuck in some sin, somewhere else, "in a land far far away". Let's be fair here, us sheep need to look in the mirror and ask, "Is it I" before we go looking for trouble elsewhere. Are any of us guilty of sin in our own churches we need to deal with first? Are any of us willing to listen if the answer is, "Yes, it IS you"? Here's the bottom line. IF THERE IS NO CONVICTION OF SIN, NO ANGUISH OF HEART, NO FEAR OF THE PREACHED WORD OF GOD, NO GUT WRENCHING REPENTANCE, THEN THERE IS NO HOLY SPIRIT IN THE CHURCH. You can wallow in all the warm fuzziness that you want, you can talk about the Holy Spirit, "he's here in our midst, I can feel him", YOU'VE GOT NOTHING IF THERE'S NO CONVICTION OF SIN. THAT'S HIS JOB!!! Can you call out even one small sin in your church and anyone listen? AND ACT ON IT? ONLY the Holy Spirit can bring Conviction and Repentance. Get That, and, Be Blessed.
