In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 2 Timothy 2:25. To clarify this a little, "those that oppose themselves"; simply means those who are fighting against the Lord and His Ways. An unsaved person Knows the Truth about God, (see Romans chapters 1,2&3), but wants to stay with his fleshly, worldly ways because he, the sinner, likes it, and has no interest in losing control over his life. "If God... will give them repentance" means that God has Repentance available for every man, woman, and child who will ever walk this earth, IF a person will simply ask for it. God DESIRES that everyone will Be Saved. Christ Paid The Price that everyone CAN be saved, if they want to, and the Holy Spirit OFFERS that Salvation to all who will desire it. One way to understand your need for Repentance unto Salvation, is for someone to teach you of this need. The choice to go with Salvation, or not, is still yours, God won't force anything on anybody. Now, here comes the fun part. "In meekness instructing those...", if we go with the standard sounding biblical teaching, is thought to mean the teacher humbly tells you what the Bible says, and then has to sit back and "take it" as you, the unsaved person, unloads on him with all the reasons why you don't need God and all this foolishness he's trying to cram down your throat. Remember, Moses was the meekest man to ever walk this earth and everyone knows he was treated like some kind of door mat everyone walked in. NO, NO, NO, THAT'S NOT AT ALL WHAT THAT MEANS!!! Here's the Biblical definition of "Meekness". AUTHORITY UNDER CONTROL. Moses was a man who KNEW God, and The Power of God in everyday life. Moses Tasted of That Power when he raised his staff, said some words, and all Hell broke loose on the Egyptians. And in the desert for 40 years, Moses spoke and all Heaven fell on the people. Know God, use HIS AUTHORITY, UNDER CONTROL, and, Be Blessed.
