But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will SUE THEE AT THE LAW, and take away thy coat, LET HIM HAVE THY CLOKE ALSO. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, LOVE your enemies, BLESS them that curse you, DO GOOD to them that hate you, and PRAY for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Matthew 5:39-44. It's interesting that the verse, "And if any man will sue thee at the law...", a hard and fast legal action with specific conditions and specific results, is here in the middle of verses that encourage one to help out another out of kindness, care, and concern for the welfare and support of others. These verses ask you to put others before you as they have need and you have provision. Yes, we are to provide for our family NEEDS first, and then as provisions abound, help others. To do these "Kindnesses" to others is a Testimony to the lost that says, "My God not only provides for me and my family, He also provides for those around me". That's quite a Testimony to a lost and dying world about a God Who really does care. Question, do you REALLY need to be taken to and through a legal court battle, and lose, before you'll give a man your coat? Or are you one that all the Holy Spirit has to do is give you a name, and you Discern that he needs a coat, and give him one? The (4 walls) church is full of people with houses full of Stuff, with the heart of, "ITS MINE MINE MINE". Remember, "And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common". Acts 4:32. Can you share of your stuff, and still, Be Blessed?
