How to sum up in a few paragraphs a truly humble servant of God - a gentle giant whose life of brokenness had been transformed by the redemptive power of his faith in Jesus Christ? But God! God kept going after that one lost sheep: never giving up on His Bobby McGee. As a result of him answering the call of his Father, surrendering his all to Jesus, Bobby left his earthly home on Thursday, August 14th, bound for sweet Beulah Land. Bobby leaves behind a legacy of resilience, grace, and a faith that will be carried forward and remembered by thousands upon thousands of once wayward souls whose lives were transformed from the depths of addiction and despair, all because of a humble servant who never forgot his own troubled past and the Shepherd who never gave up on him.
Bobby and Nan, his beloved bride of 28 years, began ChristSong Ministries, serving the Incarcerated Church, back in 2010.
Carrying his guitar, Bobby and Nan would enter prisons nationwide, and through music, testimony, and God’s Word, would bring the Gospel, offering hope and encouragement to the incarcerated. The line at the Gates of Heaven must have been long to greet Bobby! Many whose lives have been transformed due to the faithfulness of ChristSong Ministries will joyfully carry on the mission began by this humble, scarred, and tattooed servant of God. We know Bobby would want those who think there is no hope behind prison walls to always remember, redemption is possible.
From 2020 to 2022, he earned his associate’s degree by attending Fruitland Baptist Bible College. While there, he developed relationships with the young students and mentored many.
If he were to add anything to this obituary, he would emphatically insist we should have begun this by sharing his unconditional, wholehearted love for his Nan and for his children and grandchildren. Next to being labeled a Christian, his most favorite titles were husband, dad, brother, Pa-Gee, and PopPop! Bobby loved big and loved his family the biggest.
Bobby leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Nan, along with his son Robby and stepson Jim. His grands include Madison, Chase, Jordon, Elizabeth, Tucker, Charlee, Jace, Jaelyn, Benjamin, and Jamison. Bobby also leaves behind his sister, Sandra (Gavin).
Loved ones already departed and waiting on Bobby include his parents, Jim and Jean, his beloved stepson, Joe, and his sisters, Kathy and Amy.
Christsong CONTINUES to serve
Nan has been working to get videos on the tablets of the incarcerated church and plans to go back into the prisons after the first of the year. She thanks everyone who has sent encouraging messages and held her and Christsong up in prayer. The other 2 teams are still out in the prisons, ministering.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, consideration is given to honoring Bobby’s desire that ChristSong continues ministering to the incarcerated church by making a donation to ChristSong Ministries at christsongministry.org.
