MORNINGTIME 2059

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. IF YE ENDURE CHASTENING, GOD DEALETH WITH YOU AS WITH SONS; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Hebrews 12:6-8. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, AND I WILL NOT FEAR WHAT MAN SHALL DO UNTO ME. Hebrews 13:6. For the Christian, the Follower of Christ, chastening is a natural thing. It is also something we learn as we go from "worldly" to "godly" in our thinking and understanding. The thing I want to examine is this. If God chasteneth us, then obviously it is for our benefit and our growth in Christ. As all of us are coming from a sin ravaged background, we learn that God is a Most Loving Father and cares deeply for our every step with Him. Therefore, I will not say chastening is "Joyous", but is it possible to take it as something to actually look forward to because the end result will be much better that we know? Again, the Surgeon, surgery is not "joyous", but when you look past the upcoming surgery and see a body made whole again, can you look forward to the surgery, (chastening) with great anticipation of coming through into greater CHRISTLIKENESS? Can the idea of chastening actually bring a smile to your face knowing that your "face" will be more like Christ's Face? To look past the chastening with Joy is to look at all the spiritual Things and Growth in Christ, AND PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE TRIVIAL COMPLAINTS OF THE FLESH. Christ looked forward to the Cross with Joy, because of what It would accomplish. He paid no attention to the screams of his flesh saying, No, don't do this. He put His flesh in its place and never gave it any credibility, a second thought, or even a first thought. He ruled, and overruled, His flesh to such a degree, it's hardly mentioned in the Bible. Just Rejoice with chastening, Thank God for His Love, and, Be Blessed.
