MORNINGTIME 2073

And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man, (the servant of Abraham), took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands, (Rebekah, the prospective bride of the servant's Master, Isaac) of ten shekels weight of gold; And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the Lord. And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things. Genesis 24:22, 26, 28. This is a most wonderful story of a Love relationship between people, AND an illustration of a loveless relationship between the Holy Spirit and the church of today. This is where the problem starts. There are almost no churches in America today who have ANY Love for the Holy Spirit, at all. Yes, a few do, but very few. We treat the Holy Spirit as if He weren't there, so we ignore Him, as if He doesn't listen to us, so we don't talk to Him, and we ESPECIALLY don't trust Him  because he will probably ask us to do stupid stuff, like run the isles, swing from the chandeliers, and talk silly talk no one understands anyway. If Rebekah had done to the Servant, as we do to the Holy Spirit, here's how that story would have turned out. Once she got the ring and bracelets, she'd have run home, closed the door, and shown everyone her gold trinkets, AND BEEN HAPPY WITH THAT. The Servant would return home brokenhearted that his Master was rejected. He would go out and try again. AND THAT'S WHAT'S GOING ON TODAY. The Holy Spirit has rejected the standard fare church of today, and He's going out to the hedges and alleys to bring in the Heathen for The Marriage feast. We settle for the "warm fuzzies" and want no more of the Holy Spirit in our church life. We are so blinded, we can't even see that HE'S NOT THERE. What happens when the Holy Spirit shows up? From the Bible, do you even know??? His sheep would be on the floor, and the goats would be out the door. (That'll cut down church attendance). Examine yourself, study the Holy Spirit, that you may, Be Blessed.
