MORNINGTIME 2195

Now when the HIGH PRIEST and the CAPTAIN of the temple and the CHIEF PRIESTS heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. The GOD of our fathers RAISED UP JESUS, WHOM YE SLEW and hanged on a tree. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. When they heard that, THEY WERE CUT TO THE HEART, AND TOOK COUNSEL TO SLAY THEM. Acts 5:24, 29-30, 32-33. The High Priest, the Captain, and the Chief Priests, were the authorities of the church way back then. They were so knowledgeable about the things of the church that when God Himself came through the church's front doors, THEY KNEW HE WASN'T GOD, BECAUSE HE DIDN'T COME RIDING IN ON A WHITE HORSE. And all the tricks He pulled to try to get people to think He was someone important? They didn't fall for those either, they knew God would have nothing to do with common everyday sinners. And last but not least, that stunt of raising someone from the dead, ON THE SABBATH, God doesn't break His own rules, IT WASN'T HIM. Yup, those church leaders were too smart for God, they're still waiting for the REAL Messiah to show up, someday. And nothing has changed today. Preachers still have their few favorite subjects to preach on, Life won't get serious and hard here in America because Christ is coming back to rescue us before it gets too hard, and we all know the Holy Spirit gives us the warm fuzzies whenever he shows up during service. Then, it's every man for himself trying to get to lunch before the crowds. Yup, we're ready for Christ to come back, it's all those other denominations who will miss him, BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL NUTS. We're one, even if they  aren't. Those preachers way back then NEVER SAW HIM COMING, and we preachers today, NEVER SAW HIM LEAVING. Even without the Holy Spirit, we still think we will, Be Blessed.
