And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, AND LET THEM ALONE: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, YE CANNOT OVERTHROW IT; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, AND BEATEN THEM, they commanded that THEY SHOULD NOT SPEAK IN THE NAME OF JESUS, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, THEY CEASED NOT TO TEACH AND PREACH JESUS CHRIST. Acts 5:38-42. When this man, "a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people", stood up and admonished the church leaders to leave the Apostles alone, he was actually speaking with wisdom. The church leaders, not wanting to miss out on an opportunity to beat up on heretics, beat up on the Apostles and sent them out the door yelling, "And don't do that again, there's more where that came from". Remember, the Apostles were Heretics because they were preaching a new doctrine never before heard of in the church. Not only that, but the guy who started this new religion, WAS DEAD. But they could not ignore the fact that signs and wonders were constantly being done, and the "church" had no answers on how to deal with it. They were caught between a rock and a hard place. They had heard the Truth and couldn't deal with it. Preachers today are having the same trouble. They have heard The Truth, but it doesn't fit into their already preconceived agenda on how they want to do things. They too won't listen if you hold up the Gospel to their plans, they are following their own gospel created by their own little god. All they can do is agree with you, just to get you off their back, and continue doing things, their way. Only by doing things God's Way, will anyone, Be Blessed.
