MORNINGTIME 2281

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, THE PRINCE OF PEACE. Isaiah 9:6. And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. John 19:19. This year, Christmas landed on a Sunday, so we not only got to look forward to all the presents and stuff associated with it, we got to look forward to going to church and worship the Lord with Christmas related services. Kind of a double whammy, church and Christmas all in one day. Recently I used the words "Idol worship" in reference to some Christmas activities. I'll elaborate. If your Pastor called for a special Christmas church service TODAY, to mostly copy Sundays service with the singing of Christmas carols, lighting advent candles, and talking about all that Mary and the angel discussed, would you feel the same today, after Christmas, as you did for the "real" Christmas service yesterday? Or would today's special Christmas Service be a let down from the one yesterday? If it seems to be a "letdown", "just doesn't seem the same", or even, "it just doesn't feel right", THEN YOU'RE IN THE THROWS OF IDOL WORSHIP. I'm sorry, but that's what it is. Christ doesn't change and to Worship Him doesn't change either. He doesn't have special events, times, and things to celebrate during special times of the year. IT'S ALL OF CHRIST, ALL YEAR LONG. Anything, and everything, Christ said or did can, and will, be honored anytime of the year, all year long. We can't pick and choose different parts of Christ for different or special times of the year. EVERYTHING you preach about baby Jesus in December is just as relevant in July. If not, it's Idol worship. Everything about Christ is relevant ALL YEAR LONG. Study Christ and HIS definition of "Idol worship". You'll be surprised, and you will, Be Blessed.
