And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people? And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, THEY WILL BE THY SERVANTS FOR EVER. But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him. And the king answered them, (the people), roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men, 2 Chronicles 10:6-8, 13. This is a discussion about the Wisdom of the Aged, the Old Men who have been around the block a time or two. People who have seen many things come and go in the church, many fads, many silly, untested ideas that never amount to much. Imagine you're in the ocean with 25 foot high waves and high winds, and you're in a 10 foot rowboat. You're in for a rough ride. OR, same rough ocean and you're in a 1000 foot long ocean liner. You'll hardly notice the roughness of the adversity of the ocean. Here's my point. In church today, it's all about how to grow the church in numbers, and keep them coming back. Pastors will try every new trick in the book, (for example), to bring in the young people. And they DO try everything, AND NONE OF IT WORKS. The old people aren't "set in their ways", THEY KNOW WHAT WORKS, and are "told", We don't want your style of church, so they head out the back door while the preacher welcomes with open arms all the new, untested, unproven "converts" who themselves don't know what they want in a church BECAUSE THEY THEMSELVES DON'T KNOW WHAT CHURCH SHOULD BE. The older, more senior generation KNOW how to Serve the Lord, how much effort it takes, and what Holiness looks like. They are now Rejected. The younger generation of preachers and teachers want INSTANT results, show me HOW, NOW. They're not willing to allow the Lord to show them how to Be Bles
