Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK. Matthew 26:41. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT. John 3:6. For they that are after the flesh DO MIND THE THINGS OF THE FLESH ; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5. So then they that are in the flesh CANNOT PLEASE GOD. Romans 8:8. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but IF YE THROUGH THE SPIRIT do mortify the deeds of the body, YE SHALL LIVE. Romans 8:13. If you ever want to find out just how much "power" your flesh has over your will, just determine in your mind something you want to do that the Lord desires you to do. For example, plan on reading your Bible for at least 15 minutes a day, and see how many distractions suddenly come up as you're getting ready to start reading. Many out these distractions can be laid squarely at Satan's feet. But even more than that, watch yourself to see how well you actually follow through with your plan to read for 15(?) minutes to see how many reasons YOU use to stop reading. Can you go for a week, month or even 1/2 a year? This is not a right or wrong answer, this is you examining yourself to see how long you will win over your flesh, or how long your flesh wins over you. When you find your answer, then what do you want to do about it? Always remember Christ wants to be in the middle of everything you do. Is that a good thing, or are you hoping He'll turn a blind eye to you as you come up with more reasons to NOT read, than TO read. Please don't go "legalistic" here, pick something else, anything, just ask the Lord to show you where you stand in the battle between the flesh, self, and the old man nature, and Christ. It's been going on for 6,000 years and can ONLY be won one person at a time. ONLY through Christ can you win and Win VICTORIOUSLY. Christ, makes us winners, and in Christ Alone, will we, Be Blessed.
