MORNINGTIME 2381

And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save. IF HE BE THE KING OF ISRAEL, LET HIM NOW COME DOWN FROM THE CROSS, AND WE WILL BELIEVE HIM. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. Matthew 27:39-43. Gamblers tend to bet big when they think they can beat the system, when they've got all the angles figured out, and think they're smarter than everyone else. These mockers of Christ KNEW they could promise big things, "COME DOWN FROM THE CROSS, AND WE WILL BELIEVE HIM", because they knew no man had ever escaped a Roman death. They could bet the bank on it. And yet, 3 days later, word of Christ sightings are all over the community. He was Alive and Well and walking on planet earth for 40 days, so no one would be confused if the stories were true or not. And yes, some of the priests became Followers of Christ. Did you notice, Christ is walking among his murderers and mockers, AND NOT ONCE DOES HE SEEK REVENGE AGAINST ANY OF THEM!!! He Loved people just as much after His death as before His death. He offered no retaliation for them killing Him. (How would we handle it if someone killed our loved one)? Quick, what's your first thought when someone cuts you off on the highway? Any room for improvement there? Be very careful of any big claims and promises you make to Christ if He will only... you fill in the blank. HE WILL COLLECT. And while we're at it, be very careful of any promises you make during a "fox hole" salvation. If you promise Him the world, remember, someday the world is going up in smoke and you don't want to go up with it. "... swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, NEITHER BY ANY OTHER OATH:" James 5:12, and, Be Blessed.
