For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD . Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; (Now there is a time of Paul preaching). And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter. Acts 17:23-24, 32. As I see it, the Apostle Paul ONLY preached the Gospel. He did no miracles or mighty deeds, only the preaching of the Gospel. The results of this are purely in the Hands of the Holy Spirit, meaning, only Paul's words by the Holy Spirit were enough to convict many of them of their sins. Keep in mind, mockers come under conviction too, they just choose to laugh it off publicly, but privately they have to work to ignore what they've heard. One small thing to notice, there was no singing, no Program, and no mood music before the "all eyes closed and no one looking around" alter call. Nothing. Just the Preaching of the Word and leaving ALL the rest up to the Holy Spirit. Also, Be Encouraged you who Minister the Word to groups of people all at once, or to one person at a time, if you get even a small response, you're right up there with Paul. Many heard, all are called, but few are chosen. The Gospel is a Light unto men, and those who love darkness will run from the light, (like mockers), and those searching for Truth will be attracted to the Light. Think of it this way, 100% of your group heard The Word you ministered and 90 to 99% pushed it away with 1 to 10% wanting to hear more. But all 100% WILL answer to the Lord for what they did with The Word (Christ) preached to them. It's not about how many "get saved", it IS about, did you minister The Word in the manner the Holy Spirit told you to? And then leave ALL the results in His Hands? Preach Christ, Obey the Holy Spirit, and, Be Blessed.
