MORNINGTIME 2386

FROM THAT TIME FORTH BEGAN JESUS TO SHEW unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Matthew 16:21. In the World of Christianity, the story of Jesus dying on the cross is a Big One of Huge Significance. Without this one event there would be no Salvation, no reconciliation, and no Mercy and Grace like we experience now. There would be a lot of dead sheep laying around with not much understanding as to why we need to kill another one, again, like last year. Christ dying on the cross IS of huge significance. BUT, we must be very careful not to lose sight of "the rest of the story". Biblically speaking, many churches preach whatever they preach all throughout the year about Christ and much of the time it's a watered down gospel of a man made version of christ and a few miracles. But come Easter, stand back and see all the contatas, plays, musicals, and re-enactments about Christ that you can handle. With all the doings you'd think Christ was the biggest thing going in the church today. And that's the problem. Of all the stuff churches do on Easter, MOST OF IT IS STUFF BECAUSE AFTER EASTER IT'S CHURCH AS USUAL. Back to watered down versions of a man made Christ. Back to talking ABOUT his miracles with no understanding of WHY he did miracles. And almost NO discussion of the Words He Preached AND WHAT THOSE WORDS MEAN TO US TODAY. His Word cuts long, wide, and deep, yet, when's the last time you left church so convicted you couldn't wait to hit your knees in your prayer closet to try to get right with the Lord? (Do you even have a Prayer Closet)? Do you lose sleep over a family member whose going to die and go to Hell? An accusation from Christ to us in the church today, "Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel". Matthew 23:24. Remember the "Lord Lord" people, much fanfare and no substance, all going to Hell!!! Be Blessed?
