Of which SALVATION the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was REVEALED, that not unto themselves, but UNTO US they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have PREACHED THE GOSPEL UNTO YOU with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. 1 Peter 1:10-12. These verses tell the Life and History of the Prophets, yet the Prophets had, no clue. I'll explain. All the Prophets of Old knew that Something Amazing was coming because they each had little clues, but couldn't see The Big Picture. They would all Preach about the Truth they each had in Obedience to the Holy Spirit, they just didn't see it all together. Please note, they each preached The Truth of what we know as Christ and His Salvation, WITHOUT the full understanding of what they were Preaching about. They searched the Scriptures high and low to try to get the complete Picture, but just couldn't get it. THEY PREACHED BY FAITH WHAT THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND. Imagine a 200 piece puzzle you dump out of a box and put together by looking at the picture on the face of the box. The Picture makes sense of the little pieces. The Prophets of Old each had 5 little pieces, and they would Preach their Heart out explaining the Truth of their 5 pieces, they just didn't have the Picture on the cover of the box to give them the Understanding they so desperately searched for. THAT'S FAITH AND OBEDIENCE IN ACTION. Even Preaching their partial Truth of The Big Picture was enough to get them each killed. And they knew they would die for The Cause, they just didn't know what all The Cause was. We, today, do have the Full Picture, Preach the Full Truth, and most still reject It, and (sadly) will not, Be Blessed.
