MORNINGTIME 2634

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready ALWAYS TO GIVE AN ANSWER to every man that asketh you a reason of the HOPE that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15. BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON, there we sat down, yea, WE WEPT, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive REQUIRED OF US A SONG; and they that wasted us REQUIRED OF US MIRTH, saying , SING US ONE OF THE SONGS of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord's song IN A STRANGE LAND? Psalm 137:1-4. Here in Psalm 137:1-4, the Jews are being held captive and their captors are telling them to "Sing us a new song", which can be taken one of two WAYS. FIRST, their captors, the Babylonian's, are being very sarcastic and are telling the Jews, "Ya sure, sing us a nice song about your God who let you fall into our hands, a people who are much more powerful than you and your God, combined". It's an in-your-face accusation of, "Where's your Joy, now that your God has given you to us, a great people"? And here's a second way to look at these verses. "Hey Jews, you're our captives and we've heard about your God and the songs you sing unto Him. Please, sing us a song, encourage us, for we are a Powerful, and very Empty people who have no God, no Joy, and nothing to look forward to, but Death. We need A Song in OUR hearts too, please, teach us one". We may not know someone's Heart, but when they ask us to encourage them, GIVE THEM A GOOD WORD AND A SONG, whenever they ask, IN SEASON AND OUT OF SEASON, any "excuse" will work. So how are YOU doing? Can you Sing A Song to the Lord anytime? Even when it feels like Satan has his hands around your neck and is squeezing for all he's worth?  Take advantage of EVERY opportunity to Preach, Teach, and Sing A New Song EVERY time you're asked to, even in season AND out of season. This is the Lord's Command, and we should ALL listen. Sing unto the Lord with all your heart, and, Be Blessed.
