STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15. So what's the big deal with "study the Bible" so much? I know God and He's blessed me with lots of stuff and I talk to Him, well, when I have time, and I read the Bible, well, ya, when I get a chance to, BUT GOD KNOWS MY HEART, at least I'm trying, isn't that worth something??? Sorry guys, this is a worldly attitude trying to do the religiously correct thing to do, so he can feel good about doing something for God. This is an unsaved person doing what HE thinks is good, following his own path to heaven. Here's the Reality. When a sinner meets Christ, his sins come up before him like a tsunami wave about to wash him away and he Cries Out to God to Save him from his Sins. This is just the start of a LONG and Blessed Relationship. The seeds of Desire to really get to KNOW God are planted and growing. Truly "getting saved" is just a foot in the door, just a start of a really good thing. For most in church, "I know THE DAY I got saved", is as far as it goes. They did what they were told to do, and that's all. The Bible is the Great Love Letter from God Himself, to man. It's the Perfect Instruction Manual on how He wants things done. The more you read it, the more you get to KNOW God, and the more your appetite Grows for all the more Bread of Life, washed down with a glass of Living Water. The more you KNOW about God, the bigger He gets. Here's an illustration. "I got this really big love letter from my girlfriend and I started to read it. It started with, "My Dearest Love...", and that's as far as I got. Wow, she loves me, she really loves me. No need to read anymore, this just confirms she loves me". The letter was all about her loves, interests, desires, her life, and her love for him, and what she expected of him. He never read all that, he never married her, he never included her in his life. Without her, he would never, Be Blessed.
