MORNINGTIME 2791

And this is his COMMANDMENT, That we should BELIEVE on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, AND LOVE one another, as he gave us COMMANDMENT. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in (Christ), and (Christ) in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, BY THE SPIRIT WHICH HE HATH GIVEN US. 1 John 3:23-24. On a personal note for just a moment, I have heard for years that the Holy Spirit is like a dove, as in one that is easily and quickly frightened away at the slightest sign of danger to itself. That the Holy Spirit is with us, each one of us Believers, as long as we listen to Him. But as soon as we sin in some form or fashion, "He's outa here". Yes, the Holy Spirit is symbolized as a dove when He descends upon Christ in Luke 3:21-22, "Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost DESCENDED in a bodily shape LIKE A DOVE upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased". Luke 3:21-22. But that's as far as it goes, nowhere does it speak of Him, the Holy Spirit, LEAVING someone in times of sin, or trouble. It would appear in the following verse that at "sin", the Holy Spirit MIGHT leave. "Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me". Psalm 51:11. But if you back up to the beginning of this discussion to verse 5,  "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me" . Psalm 51:5. To read on in context it looks like David is acknowledging his life as a sinner, the Holy Spirit calling him to Repentance and Salvation, and David responds with Obedience unto salvation. If David had rejected that call, THEN the Holy Spirit would have left.  Besides, since when does a "Teacher" and "Comforter" leave when a student acts up? Discipline is administered to bring the student back in line. See Hebrews 13:5-6. Obey the Holy Spirit, and, Be Blessed.
