(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) Numbers 12:3. Definition of "meek":  quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive. And Brown-Driver-Briggs' Definition: "poor, afflicted, humble, wretched, needy, weak, and lowly". This is the world's definition of "meek". It implies that Moses was pretty much a doormat for everybody to walk on. I'm sorry, but I just don't see Moses as a doormat for anybody. I find this to be a more realistic definition of "Meek" in the Life of Moses; POWER AND AUTHORITY UNDER CONTROL. Moses ran for his life out of Egypt right after it was discovered he had killed an Egyptian. He knew the fear of man and the threat of Death hanging over him. He went from being Pharaoh's son, to a nobody in the desert for 40 years. Plenty of time for God to work a serious dose of Humility into Moses heart and attitude. Moses had a Life Changing Encounter with God Almighty at the burning bush. (Like on the road to Emmaus, and the road to Damascus, also Life Changing). No one who ever meets God, walks away as a wimpy doormat. It didn't take Moses long to fully Comprehend and Understand that the Full Power of God rested on his shoulders, along with the Knowledge of exactly how, and when, to use it. He Knew God, and he Knew man. He Knew how Powerful God was, and how fragile man was. He Knew he had the Power and Authority to call fire and ice, frogs, lice, boils, hail, blood, and even death, down on fragile man. Moses actions made him Dr. Death, AND HE KNEW IT. He also Knew God and His Mercy and Grace towards man. Moses Knew Who his Source was AND HE KNEW HOW TO BE OBEDIENT TO THAT SOURCE. Moses Knew he had the Power to wipe out a whole country, and Mercy and Grace wouldn't let him give in to his flesh, self, and old man nature. THAT, is Power and Authority Under Control. THAT is the real definition of "Meekness". Does meekness fit into your life? Grow in Meekness, Grow in Christ, and, Be Blessed.
