Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed My Covenant which I Commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the Covenant of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel. And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I HAVE SINNED AGAINST THE LORD GOD of Israel, and thus and thus have I done: And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, AND ALL THAT HE HAD: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor. And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the Lord shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. Joshua 7:11,15,20, 24-25. Achan was a good church going family man who generally obeyed the Laws that Moses wrote down and pretty much did as he was supposed to. But secretly, HE WAS A GREEDY MAN WITH A LUST FOR WEALTH, AND NO OPPORTUNITY. Even he may not have known he had this problem. But the Lord, in His  Infinite Mercy and Grace, allowed gold, silver and fancy clothes to come into Achan's life, to Prove to Achan what kind of Man he would be. No, the Lord didn't Tempt Achan, He just allowed Achan to see his own Heart Attitude and to decide what he would do about it. And Achan failed miserably, he took the Forbidden Wealth and hid it in his tent. He should have just walked on by in Obedience. That secrete disobedience cost him, his family, and all his animals their lives. ALL DEAD, from his Sin. Then they, and all his stuff, were destroyed by fire. Got a problem? Christ will not only fix it, HE'LL GIVE YOU A BRAND NEW HEART, and you WILL, Be Blessed.
