MORNINGTIME 3476by Benjamin Munsell on May 10, 2020
For if ye shall diligently keep all these COMMANDMENTS which I command you, TO DO them, to LOVE the Lord your God, to WALK in all His Ways, and to CLEAVE unto Him; Then will the Lord drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves. Behold, I set before you this day a BLESSING and a CURSE; a BLESSING, if ye OBEY the Commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: And a CURSE, if ye will NOT OBEY the Commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the Way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. Deuteronomy 11:22-23,26 -28. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your GOOD WORKS, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven. Matthew 5:16. Now when John had heard in the prison the WORKS of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, Matthew 11:2. (the WORKS of Christ: "an act, deed, thing done: the idea of working is emphasized in opposed to that which is less than work). So, what's the difference between "works" and "Obedience"? It's your Heart Attitude". Both are doing "things", but one is based on "things" will earn your way into Heaven, like, you have to visit a certain number of people in their homes every day, or else, without accomplishing all the required works, no Heaven for you. The other "works" is In Christ. He did ALL the "works" that are needed for me to get into Heaven, and I do "works" JUST BECAUSE I LOVE HIM. My works earn me NO brownie points for ANYTHING. I "Do" His Commandments in Obedience because I Love His Word, His People, His Fellowship with others, AND EXPECT NOTHING IN RETURN. I don't "do to get" I do IN LOVE because Christ is the Perfect Example of Pure Love, and to do ANYTHING in Christ is to do it in Love. In Christ, you can Love your wife (or husband) EXPECTING NOTHING IN RETURN, and be very happy, even if you "get" nothing in return. Do you do what man, or Christ says, unto Salvation? LOVE and, Be Blessed.
