MORNINGTIME 3709

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. Acts 5:1-5. This is a story of two people wanting to partake of this new Christian "thing" going on, to get in on the Blessings and to look good before the people. They tried to look like and act like Christians, as far as they thought a Christian should look and act, and no one would be the wiser if they didn't really give what they wanted to look like they were giving. They didn't understand that Christians answer to a Higher Power, The Lord Himself. They wanted one foot in Christianity, and the other foot in the world. To look like "church" people doing their part, and still enjoying the pleasures of the world. That's being lukewarm, two faced, and a hypocrite all at the same time. The Lord called them on it and killed them on the spot. They had time to Repent but chose to try to lie their way out of their predicament. Instant dead and quickly buried. It's a serious thing to try to fool (lie to) the Holy Spirit. The Lord is very Gracious and Merciful and He will give you ample opportunities to call on Christ in Repentance unto Salvation. Be a Christian, or be a person of the world. Either way, give it your all. But don't try to play with both sides, it will not end well for you. The Lord wants to be your One and Only, or else not at all. He doesn't come in behind anyone. Be Truthful with the Lord, and eternally, Be Blessed.
