Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a Voice came from heaven, which said, "Thou art my Beloved Son; in Thee I am well pleased". Luke 3:21-22. (Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in the forum of man, made in flesh, needed to be Filled with the Holy Spirit, and among other things, He needed to be Tested to be Sure that His flesh was nothing more than a means for Him to move around in here on earth. AND that He, Christ, was fully subject unto the Lord and His Leading by the Holy Spirit, and that His flesh had absolutely NO control over Him with its worldly and fleshly desires. Christ, the Son on God, was also Filled with the Holy Spirit to show us humans that we too needed to be Filled with the Holy Spirit in order to have control over our fleshly body and all of its desires). "AND JESUS being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days He DID EAT NOTHING: AND when they were ended, HE AFTERWARD HUNGERED". Luke 4:1-2. This was to Prove to both God and man that Jesus Christ had Full, Total and Complete Control over His fleshly body. So much so that when the Father said to the Son, "Eat no bread and drink no water until I release You to do so", Jesus did exactly as told. And when the Father told the Son that He needed to die on the Cross in the most painful and humiliating way possible, JESUS NEVER FLINCHED AND SAID "YES" TO EVEN THAT JOY SET BEFORE HIM. The "Joy" part was to do EVERYTHING the Father asked of Him, with no resistance whatsoever, to be Pleasing and Obedient unto ALL the Father asked of Him. Personally, I Believe that Jesus did not know how long the "Test" in the desert would last, (being 40 days), but that His Goal was to daily, ONE DAY AT A TIME, Obey the Father, as He would, Be Blessed.
