STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH. 2 Timothy 2:15. The story of David and Goliath is found in 1 Samuel chapter 17 and to Read the chapter, you'll see all the facts of the story. Yet the story doesn't seem to be in order. In verses 38 & 39 David is trying on Saul's armour, decided his armour won't work, and takes it off. In the next verse, (v. 40), David is picking up 5 stones out of the brook in the middle of the valley. (Both armies are on the tops of the hills on either side of the valley). In verse 44 David and Goliath are still talking back and forth across the valley, at the top of the hillsides(?). In verse 48 Goliath starts down the hillside to meet David and David ran towards Goliath immediately after declaring God would fight for Israel against Goliath. It would seem the story is complete, but out of order. Let's try this, IT'S IT POSSIBLE, David tries on Saul's armour, it won't work and takes it off, he hears Goliath's challenge and answers back that God will fight for Israel, AND THEN STARTS RUNNING DOWN THE HILLSIDE KNOWING THE LORD WILL PROVIDE, AND HE, AT THE BOTTOM OF THE VALLEY, AT THE LITTLE BROOK, NOW PICKS UP 5 SMOOTH STONES AND CONTINUES RUNNING TOWARD GOLIATH??? (We know the rest of the story). Question, is this a STUDY of God's Word to see David so full of Faith he ran "empty handed" toward Goliath KNOWING the Lord would give him his "weapons" at the right time, even if it looks like "at the last minute"? Or is this a total misread of Scripture? Either way, to read, ponder on, pray over and ask the Lord for guidance and understanding will bring you down the path of STUDY that just reading only, will miss. The Bible is not "out of order" when something doesn't
make sense, but to go deeper and STUDY the Word, can make perfect sense. The Bible is the Living Word of God, brought to Life by the Holy Spirit, with your Heart to find Truth. So, study on, and, Be Blessed.
